Our proposal for this competition conceived of the relationship between the school, the landscape, and the city as being analogous to a dynamic palimpsest.  The design of the campus is organized so that the individual academies of the school can simultaneously express their own identity and blend in to one another and the landscape as a holistic composition.  Striations in the landscape weave themselves among the buildings and provide ample opportunities for academic and social interaction, as well as acting as a bridge between two adjacent parks.  Meanwhile, the intimate relationship between the individual academies and the landscape allows the school to expand its curriculum in to the open air for activities such as exhibitions, outdoor lectures, and student gardens.
