The design of this new school campus presupposes that the fundamental nature and purpose of schools is changing, from the traditional notion of the “ivory tower” to something more akin to a “social condenser”.  In order to facilitate this transformation, schools must become more accessible by - and active in - the communities they serve; they must be able to open their arms to the public, while still embracing their student body in a secure learning environment.  This mentality lead us to compose the campus in such a way that the programmatic elements of the school that must serve both the students and community are strung together and arranged along the perimeter of the site, while the areas that exclusively support the student population, such as classrooms, are internalized at the core of the campus.
