Public Radio Station and Offices

Pasadena, CA

This 30,000 square foot office project creates a new identity for an existing radio station within the surrounding community with the addition of a cafe fostering local interaction. A sustainable building envelope physically addresses the importance of the environment while creating a dynamic spatial condition. Wrapping the existing building with lightweight photovoltaic laminate sheets, there is a dynamic play between existing building and new skin, and a thermal barrier zone to help maintain interior temperature. The building addresses the complex relationship of the public and private realm in contemporary media with in a sustainable renovation that communicates a sense of civic responsibility to the public.
